I have been using integrated curriculum for my entire teaching career highlighting the relationships and interconnections within systems, along with Project-Based Learning. With lots of experience and taking time for reflection, I have become more and more focused on nature-based teaching and learning. I see this as increasingly more important as time goes by. It has become a very high priority for me. I recognize the value of being outdoors for children, for myself, and for all people, in wild spaces and in cultivated spaces. This includes the wonder of gardening with children. In the spring of 2020, at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, I was introduced to Nature Journaling and Bird Sits, and immediately recognized their value. I have been engaging in these very powerful practices for myself and with children.
